Choosing the right comforter

Published on 18 March 2022

Synonymous with warmth, comfort and softness, comforters guarantee a truly restful sleep. Just like the base, mattress or bed linen, its quality is essential to offer your guests a unique experience. Your choice will depend on seasonality, outside and room temperatures, and your establishment’s level of luxury.

A comforter for every establishment

The synthetic models offered in different grammages from 200 to 450grs/m² meet the expectations of hoteliers thanks to their multiple qualities. They offer a variety of warmthcomforts for summer, mid-season or winter, with a cotton or polyester cover for easy care. Easy to live with and comfortable, comforters with 350gr filling are ideal for mid-season andwinter. The CONFORTEL model has a colored overlock on the foot for easy identification of width and length, saving time during installation. For its part, the MICROCONFORT II comforter encloses its filling in a soft, resistant sanforized cotton sateen cover.

How to choose your winter comforter ?

There are many factors to consider when choosing your winter comforters: type of filling, weight, envelope composition, budget and bed size. Synthetic or natural, the Linvosges hôtellerie range of winter comforters are OEKO TEX certified and suitable for all types of accommodation, from charming gîtes to top-of-the-range hotels.

For chalet rentals in the high mountains, for example, we recommend a weight of 350 to 450g/m² for synthetic fillings and 300g/m² for natural comforters. The comforter with natural duck down filling, rarer and therefore a little more expensive than a synthetic comforter, offers incomparable cozy comfort and regulated warmth with light, airy weight. For professionals, there are players like Mooncard that simplify expense management for businesses. This makes it easy to buy comforters, bedding and other equipment.

The winter comforters in the hotel collection are filled with different qualities of casing. The cotton percale used for our natural comforters and certain synthetic models is more durable and breathable, while the microfiber cover of our Confortel comforters is lightweight and quick-drying, a considerable advantage for hotel professionals.

Comforter size is also an important criterion. Offered in a wide range of sizes, the smallest being 140cm wide /200cm long and the largest 280cm wide / 240cm long, winter comforters must be perfectly adapted to the dimensions of your beds. We recommend a minimum overhang of 30cm on each side of the mattress, so that the comforter can be tucked in and your guests can stay covered as they move around while sleeping, keeping them nice and warm.

How to choose your summer comforter?

When the warm weather returns and temperatures rise, it’s essential to offer your guests a comforter that’s just right for them, so they feel cocooned without feeling too hot.

To satisfy you, we offer the Confortel summer comforter in our range. With its low-weight synthetic filling of 200g/m2, it’s the perfect choice for those sensitive to heat during the summer season. Also available in a twin version for use alone or connected by a zip when your twin beds are assembled.

Whatever the type of filling, the Linvosges Hôtellerie collection comforters are finished to meet the requirements of hospitality professionals. Bourdon or bias stitching withstands frequent washing, while diamond or bridge stitching provides excellent support and even fiber distribution for evenly distributed warmth.

How to choose a feather comforter

Natural duck down and feather fillings are favored by charming bed and breakfasts and luxury hotels. They are light and voluminous, and adapt to the season thanks to their natural ability to thermoregulate: warm in winter, cool in summer.

You’ll opt for the natural Prestige comforter Temperate in 200grs/m² or Winter in 300grs/m², depending on the ambient temperature of your rooms, the outside temperature and the level of comfort your guests require. The Temperate model is recommended when the temperature in your rooms is above 20°, and the Winter model, with its high heat index, is ideal for temperatures below 18°. Partitioned check quilting provides perfect support for the filling, while allowing the down to air out, giving a fluffy, puffy appearance. Another advantage is the 100% cotton percale cover, which is resistant, natural and easy to clean.soft and breathable.

Two colors of down are available, silver and white. Both offer the same level of comfort and warmth, and only their aesthetic appeal will persuade you to choose one or the other. In fact, silver-gray can be slightly visible through a white comforter cover. For immaculate white beds, choose a natural Prestige comforter in white duck down.

When you choose a French-made natural comforter, you’re giving your guests the guarantee of a dreamy night’s sleep and a unique sleeping experience.
